Allotment Fire
A controlled burn discovered by our team on the evening of 12 March 2026 rapidly escalated into a large fire involving nearby structures, prompting a swift response from Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service and several hours of firefighting operations.
At approximately 19:55 on 12 March 2026, our team came across what appeared to be a controlled burn that had become out of control. The fire had spread beyond the original burn area and was beginning to involve nearby structures. A large quantity of materials were already well alight, producing significant flames and smoke and creating a risk of further spread.
Recognising the escalation and potential danger, our team immediately contacted Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service at approximately 20:00 and provided details of the developing situation. Within six minutes, fire crews from Sandyford Fire Station arrived on scene and began assessing the incident. A second retained crew attended shortly afterwards to assist with firefighting operations. Crews were also joined by the Brigade Welfare Support Unit from both Burslem and Stone Fire Stations.
Firefighters quickly implemented firefighting measures to prevent the blaze from spreading further to surrounding structures and materials. Crews worked for several hours to bring the fire under control using two hose reel lines. Our team remained on scene providing logistical scene support and assistance as required.
After sustained firefighting efforts, the fire was brought fully under control. Fire crews and our team remained on scene while the affected area was made safe and any remaining hot spots were made safe.
Attending fire crews stood down from the incident at approximately 23:30 once the scene was confirmed safe and no further risk of fire spread remained whilst our team left the scene by 23:45.
