Adverse Weather in Staffordshire Moorlands

The team deployed and monitored the periods of adverse weather affecting the North Staffordshire area.

NSCR Volunteers have been actively deployed throughout last night and again in the early hours into the late morning, supporting communities across the Staffordshire Moorlands during a period of severe and challenging weather conditions. With high winds, persistent rainfall, and snowfall affecting much of the area—particularly in remote and elevated locations—volunteers maintained a visible and reassuring presence, working to ensure public safety and minimise disruption. Their efforts have focused on monitoring vulnerable routes, assisting where required, and responding promptly to emerging incidents. Over the course of their deployment, teams attended a number of weather-related hazards, including multiple road obstructions caused by fallen tree branches and debris. In one instance, a collapsed stone wall had fallen into the roadway, presenting a potential risk to motorists. Swift action was taken to secure the area and remove the obstruction safely. Thanks to the coordinated response and dedication of all personnel involved, affected roads were cleared efficiently, allowing traffic to continue flowing with minimal disruption and without incident to road users. North Staffordshire Civil Response continues to monitor conditions closely and remains ready to respond as required. Members of the public are advised to take extra care when travelling, particularly in rural and exposed areas, and to remain aware of changing weather conditions.
